Year 9 · Science · Extension Task · $5.99 AUD
A Year 9 Science extension task where students design and run an independent inquiry into one factor affecting the rate of a reaction, such as surface area, acid concentration, temperature or a catalyst. Students write a reasoned hypothesis, plan variables, repeats and a risk assessment, then graph their data, explain trends using collision theory and evaluate their method. Teacher notes are included.
Part of the "Atoms, Mass and Reaction Rates" sub-unit. Aligned to AC9S9I01, AC9S9I05, AC9S9I06 (Australian Curriculum v9).
Students will:
• Write a hypothesis with a scientific reason
• Plan a fair investigation with controlled variables and repeats
• Graph and analyse data to describe a trend
• Evaluate a method and identify its biggest weakness
A ready-to-teach extension task, supplied as PDF, editable Word (DOCX) and PowerPoint (PPTX).
