Atomic Structure - Year 11 Science Lesson

Year 11 · Science · Lesson Plan · NSW · $1.99 AUD

A Year 11 chemistry lesson plan on atomic structure. The 55–60 minute run-sheet explains protons, neutrons and electrons, atomic number and mass number using carbon-12 as a worked example, then students calculate subatomic particles for sodium and oxygen in guided practice. It ends with an exit ticket on calculating the number of neutrons in an atom.

Aligned to CH11-3 (NSW).

Students will:
• Describe the location and charge of subatomic particles
• Use atomic number and mass number to find protons and neutrons
• Calculate the number of electrons in a neutral atom

A ready-to-use lesson plan, supplied as PDF, editable Word (DOCX) and PowerPoint (PPTX).
