A Year 1 geography activity in which students make a labelled map of the school grounds. After walking the grounds, children draw the biggest features, add and label what they recorded, colour-code natural, managed and constructed features with a simple key, and describe locations to a partner using position words. Differentiation, teacher notes and an exit ticket are included.
Part of the "Features and Where They Are" sub-unit. Aligned to AC9HS1S02, AC9HS1K03 (Australian Curriculum v9).
Students will:
• Place features on a map in about the right position
• Label and colour-code natural, managed and constructed features
• Use position words to describe where features are
