A Year 1 history activity where the class builds an unscaled timeline from long ago to now. Children place object and photo cards in order, use the words before and after for each card, add drawings of themselves now and of things from when their carers were children, then discuss the timeline. Detailed teacher notes support families with different circumstances.
Part of the "Timelines, Questions and Sharing" sub-unit. Aligned to AC9HS1S02, AC9HS1K02 (Australian Curriculum v9).
Students will:
• Order events and objects from longest ago to now
• Use the words before and after to describe time order
• Place themselves on a class timeline
