A Foundation geography assessment task for the My Place unit, run orally one child at a time with the child's own picture map. Children point to and name natural and built features, talk about a special place and how to look after the school, use position words on their map and name the Country the school is on. A marking rubric and marking guide are included.
Part of the "Country, Maps and Sharing" sub-unit. Aligned to AC9HSFK03, AC9HSFK04, AC9HSFS02 (Australian Curriculum v9).
Students will:
• Identify natural and built features in a place
• Explain why a place is special
• Describe locations using position words on a picture map
• Name the Country the school is on
